The Switch 48 covers the standard office brief at the lowest complexity: 48 gigabit ports and four 1G SFP uplinks, in a fanless 1U chassis with no fan noise and no moving parts to fail — ideal for open offices, classrooms and quiet rooms. It suits a whole floor of wired endpoints where power comes from elsewhere and routing is handled upstream. As a Layer 2 switch it handles VLANs and switching, while routing between VLANs is left to the site's gateway or an upstream Layer 3 switch. Management is through the UniFi Network application, with a touchscreen on the front panel for local status. Note: this model has no Etherlighting and no RPS power-backup input — those features belong to the Pro lines.
